Honduras is the second biggest country in Central America, with112,000 km2. The country enclose abundant nature, a rich cultural heritage, and a variety of archeology, reason why Honduras is described as the country with three different “worlds”.
The first world is the Natural Tropic. Honduras has been blessed with a diverse nature that makes famous Central America. The Maya’s world is the second world. In Mayan archaeology Copan is distinguished as the “Athens” of the Ancient Greece for what is called the “Athens of the new World”. The third and more exotic world is the Caribbean of Honduras. This fascination began in the 20th century, epoch in which a group of entrepreneurs from the United States make a plan that eventually become Honduras in a big industry with the title of “Banana Republic”.
The majority of Hondurans population is “mestiza” (a miscegenation of Europeans and natives). Some of the native groups had preserved their native language and traditions. Spanish is the official language, but the “Islands from the Bays” is the exception where the inhabitants speaks English as a second language, which makes easy to find people who speaks fluently, especially en the biggest cities.
